One Family. Two Cultures. One Musical Journey.

OUR STORY

The lights dimmed.

Five musicians stood together, waiting. Then came the words we never expected to hear:

“The winners of DerbyVision 2026… Soulmates Family.”

But our story didn't begin on that stage. It began years earlier, thousands of miles away.

🇵🇭 WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Jackie and Lloyd met through church music in the Philippines. They fell in love, built a life together and eventually moved to the UK — bringing their love of music with them.

Through those early years, one person was always cheering them on: their relative and close friend, Jasten. She believed in them long before there were awards, concerts or big stages.

Then came Liam. Then Lyris.

Drums appeared. Keyboards appeared. Rehearsals became family time.

A couple who loved music had become a family band.

🎤 THE FIRST BIG STAGE

In 2019, we decided to take a chance. We entered the Soundwaves Music Competition.

With friends and relatives from Derby travelling to Birmingham to support us, our little family walked onto the stage of the O2 Academy Birmingham. We walked off as...

🏆MIDLANDS REGIONAL CHAMPIONS. 🏆

For the first time, we wondered: How far could this family band actually go?

😷 THEN THE WORLD STOPPED

COVID arrived. Venues closed. Gigs disappeared. The stages went dark. But we weren't ready to stop playing.

So our home became our stage. Through Sessions Live, we performed for people around the world from our own living room.

And during a time when families couldn't always be together, music somehow kept us connected. It taught us something we still believe today: A stage isn't defined by its size. It exists wherever someone is willing to listen.

🪦THEN CAME THE HARDEST CHAPTER

Years passed. There were performances, celebrations and new opportunities.

Then we lost Jasten.

One of the people who had believed in us from the very beginning was suddenly gone. For a while, grief made everything feel different.

But it also gave us courage. Keep playing. Take the chance. Make her proud.

So we entered DerbyVision.

🎤 FIVE MUSICIANS. ONE SONG. ONE CHANCE.🎶

Just one month before the competition, Dennam joined us on bass. And suddenly, Soulmates Family had a new chapter.

We entered DerbyVision 2026 with an original song close to our hearts:

💎Diamond in the Night 💎

A song about finding your light even when life becomes dark. Five of us walked onto that stage carrying years of memories, sacrifices, laughter, mistakes, loss and hope.

And then... we found ourselves standing beneath those lights again. Waiting.

“SOULMATES FAMILY.”

DERBYVISION 2026 WINNERS. 🏆

For us, it was more than winning a competition. It was proof that sometimes the chapters you never wanted to live through become part of the story that carries you forward.

📅 AND NOW... 🎸

We're still the same family. Still working. Still rehearsing. Still arguing about who came in too early. Still loading instruments into the car. And still making music together.😄

Only now, we're taking that music further — celebrating the two places we call home: Britain 🇬🇧 and the Philippines 🇵🇭.

From Manila Sound and OPM to disco soul, pop and our own original songs, every performance carries a little piece of our story.

Because Soulmates Family was never really about becoming famous.

It was about something much more important. Staying together. Making memories. And finding reasons to keep playing.

Our next chapter is only beginning.

🏆 WE WON DERBYVISION 2026! We're still trying to take it all in...Last night, our original song 💎 Diamond in the Night was crowned the winner of Derbyvision 2026, and our hearts are overflowing with gratitude.To everyone who came to St Luke's Church, cheered us on, voted for us, streamed our music, shared our posts, and supported us throughout this journey — THANK YOU. This award belongs as much to you as it does to us. ❤️As a British-Filipino family band, we have always believed in the power of music to bring people together. To stand on that stage and share our original music with Derby was an honour. To win is beyond anything we imagined.We dedicate this award to our dear friend, Jasten, who sadly passed away in November. Jasten was one of our biggest supporters from the very beginning. He believed in us, encouraged us, and celebrated every milestone with us. We know he would have been smiling proudly last night. This one is for you, our friend. 💙We also dedicate this victory to the entire Filipino community — not just in Derby, but across the United Kingdom 🇵🇭🇬🇧. Thank you for embracing us, supporting our music, and allowing us to represent our culture on this platform.
